Shared note

In June 1830 Hugh and Catherine and 9 of their 14 children sailed from Glasgow. After 6 weeks they arrived in Quebec, from where they travelled to Upper Canada (Ontario), eventually reaching New Glasgow. From there they trudged to their new home on Lot 1, Concession 8, Mosa Township, Middlesex County, reaching it on November 12. Their youngest son, Alexander, was born there the next month, in December.
