Jacob Andrew Gauthier of Houston, Texas, passed away on Sunday April 2nd in his 19th year. He took his own life after a battle with mental illness. Jake graduated from Clear Lake High School. He loved drawing, writing, camping and Scouts. Among his Scouting highlights, he backpacked over 90 miles at the Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico, and canoed over 50 miles on the Brazos River with his troop. He was well on his way to Eagle before becoming sick. Although illness robbed him of this, we choose to remember his intellect, quirky sense of humor and ability to connect with others and make them laugh. He is survived by parents Carla and Bill Gauthier, sister Jillian and brother Brandon, and two pets he loved dearly, our dog Holly and his turtle Shelly. He is also survived by his grandparents Helen and Bob Huctwith, Viviane Gauthier, and Peter and Betty Gauthier, all from Ontario, Canada, as well as uncles, aunts and cousins. We hope you are at peace now Jake, we miss your smile and infectious laugh already. You are loved and will be in our hearts forever. The family has decided to do a private service, with a Celebration of Life later this spring. Donations in lieu of flowers can be made to either Armand Bayou Nature Center, or National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI). |
