Kilmartin Pioneers 1815-1855 by DK MacKellar states "... the family moved from farm to farm. He was assessed on S 1/2 Lot 1, Conc. 5, Mosa from 1832-1838; then in 1841 on S 1/2 Lot 4, Conc. 6 Mosa, receiving the crown deed for this in 1848. In 1847 he took up a Canada Compnay property, N 1/2 Lot 4, Conc. 5, Mosa and received the deed by purchase in 1853. This last property was to be their permanent home. In 1857 Donald sold one acre from his home farm on which was built Mosa #9 school. N 1/2, Lot 4, Conc. 5 remained in the McLachlan name until 1887 when sold by son John. But Jane, the mother, retained her dower on that farm until her death in 1901. Son Hugh T. inherited S 1/2 Lot 4, Conc. 6 in 1882. This farm has remained in the McLachlan lineage down through the years."
